The King of Moab sent with heavy purse
For Balaam, a pagan prophet of Hell,
That with demonic forces he would curse
The children of the LORD God, Israel.
But God unto this godless man appeared
And warned him not to curse whom He had blessed,
So Balaam wisely the Almighty feared:
He did not go, refused the king’s request.
But Balak, fearful more of Israel’s men,
Again sought Balaam’s strength in Hell’s domain;
The sorcerer refused them yet again
Yet went when God said, “Speak as I ordain.”
For even those who with dark forces house
Can never act except as God allows.
