My brothers, we are debtors not to flesh
In bondage to our bodies’ every wish;
No more has death our days within its mesh,
Our deeds ensnared by sin as netted fish.
The Spirit freeing us has snapped death’s net
That we may die to sin and freely live
As those not bound by death yet still in debt
To Life and by the Spirit bound to give
As we were given unto life and led
Away from slavery unto the king,
Unto adoption through the royal head
Whose crown upon the cross was suffering.
For by the tomb, the Spirit witness bears
Through second womb we are with Christ God’s heirs.
