In days that wear prosperity be glad –
Be happy through those times you see as good;
But when your days seem in the darkness clad,
Drop not your eyes as one despairing would.
Look up instead to Him who made the world
And see the careful craftsman of these lands,
Whose gentle fingers have your life unfurled,
Both soft and rough days crafted by His hands.
For none may know the future God designs –
The fashion of His purpose no man sees;
No human mind may trace those subtle lines
Or question any thread of God’s decrees.
For faith alone can lead you through dark days
So you may find that darkness ends with praise.
